Brenda Edgar, medical secretary, assists the doctors with typing referrals to hospital, liasing with the hospitals regarding appointments and record keeping.
The receptionists are responsible for the appointments system and record keeping on behalf of the doctors and their duties include answering all telephone calls and dealing appropriately with all requests from patients including prescriptions and other enquiries.
Administrative staff are also involved in preparing records for new patients, inviting patients to attend clinics for chronic disease managment and returning records to NHS Lothian when patients leave the practice. |
